My approach to family photos is a little bit different. I like to focus on the mother, and the strength and unwavering love that comes from the beautiful yet challenging commitment of motherhood. Maternity photography is equal parts mother and child, at a time when your hearts beat together in one body. I also love to document breastfeeding and babywearing, as I believe they are underrated yet fleeting bonding moments.

Motherhood sessions can be as casual or glamorous as you want them to be, and can feature anything from puddle jumping with the family, in-home snuggles, a slinky black gown, or all the above! I'm also always thinking creatively about new and exciting locations for my sessions, from secluded lakes to snowy mountain peaks, and any location that is special to you and your family, Juneau has so much beauty to offer and I'm always up for an adventure. The possibilities are endless and I want to make sure your session is 100% authentically you. After your retainer is paid and your contract is signed, you will get a series of emails with helpful information, including information about wardrobe and helpful hair and makeup tips if you are doing your own hair and makeup. I will be with you every step of the way helping you plan and perfect your vision.

have photographed women of all ages, shapes and sizes and learned from some of the best photographers in the industry.. During your session, I coach you into flattering positions, that accentuate your bump while flattering your figure. I will take a variety of images that capture the strength of motherhood, the silliness of family, and the beautiful longing that you have to meet your child. You don’t need to know how to do anything but show up and enjoy the experience.

Professional Retouching & Creative Editing

I believe in using Photoshop responsibly. All images are professionally retouched for blemishes and color corrected. However, I will not heavily alter your body or make you look like a different person entirely. I believe in showing the real you. I will use my knowledge of lighting and posing to flatter you. Photoshop can then be used to perfect the images and add that artistic POP.

FAQs

Can I bring my partner/kids?: Absolutely! They are an important part of you and your baby's life and absolutely deserve to be included in this experience. However, there is also nothing selfish or wrong with wanting photos of just you and your baby! If you are wanting both solo photos and family photos, I highly suggest booking a signature session to ensure that we have enough time.
What if it rains?: Then we wear rain boots! I'm a go with the flow kind of gal, and sometimes we have to make the most of what mother nature gives us. If it sprinkles or drizzles, we can make some truly beautiful photos from it. However, I also want this to be a positive experience for everyone, so If it's pouring and windy, we will reschedule.
When should I book my session?: If you are looking for maternity photos, the best time to book your session for is when you are between 28-34 weeks. During this time frame, women are usually over their morning sickness, and haven't yet begun the normal swelling from water retention that usually occurs toward the end of your third trimester, so you are generally feeling your best and that will show in your photos. This timeframe is also ideal because even the healthiest of women can go into early labor or be put on bedrest, so it is best to not wait too long. The best time to schedule your session is NOW! Once you have your due date, it is best to schedule sooner rather than later to ensure I have availability.
What should I wear?: Whatever you are comfortable in! If you are uncomfortable in your clothes, it's all you will think about during your session and end up loosing focus on what's important. I have a small collection of gorgeous maternity dresses ranging from sizes S-2XL that you are welcome to borrow. I also offer a maternity gown incentive if you purchase your own dress. If you have no idea where to shop for a dress, just ask! I m happy to help.
I am self conscious about my weight gain, do you Photoshop?: I've been there! You feel bloated and tired and not "glowing" at all. Just remember:

1) I'm very experienced in posing women, pregnant and not.

2) This is temporary. Weight gain is normal and good for your baby.

3) You may not FEEL the glow but trust me, others can see it.

Bottom line: I got you! If there is something in particular you are self conscious about, let me know ahead of time and I will pose you and angle my camera accordingly. I will then use photoshop to minimize things like bulges in clothes and remove blemishes.
I'm nervous about the investment, do you offer payment plans?: I'm so glad you asked! I offer a couple of different payment plan! One popular option allows you to pre-pay for up to a year prior to your session. Pre-payment plans are awesome because when you see your photos for the first time, you are able to fully enjoy them without worrying about money. Another option is using PayPal Credit, which is an easy way to get your images and/or products right away, and then pay them off interest-free over 6 months after your session. I never want money to hold you back from getting family photos that you will treasure forever.
Do you have a studio?: Yes and no. My husband and I are currently in the process of BUILDING my studio, which is SUPER exciting, but also a process in and of itself. The studio will be ready for simple backdrop and silhouette shoots around mid-2021. For now, sessions will take place outdoors and in-home.
Will you share my photos online?: Normally, yes. I love bragging about my awesome clients and posting recent photos is a key part of my business. I will usually post a couple of images to facebook and/or instagram, and then I frequently add your favorite images and a writeup about your session to a blog post that you can share with friends and family. However, your privacy is of the utmost importance to me and if you decide for any reason to keep your photos private I will absolutely honor that.
