Boudoir Styling Tips: Bodysuits, Teddies and Rompers

When thinking of what to wear for your Juneau boudoir session, bodysuits and teddies are often overlooked. However, they are my favorite types of lingerie, because they are flattering for every figure, they can smooth and shape the stomach area, and they are so incredibly versatile. They come in so many patterns and fabrics, and with the right accessories even the most basic bodysuits can be extremely sexy. Pair bodysuits with garters, thigh highs, fishnets, sweaters, bras, kimonos, fur coats, whatever matches your style! Rompers are also a fun option if you're wanting something a little more conservative, but still flirtatious!

Bodysuits

Bodysuits, similar to leotards or one-piece swimming suits, fall under the category of shapewear. Shapewear is meant to sculpt, smooth, or transform a person's figure in one way or another. Shapewear was first introduced in the Middle Ages as a medieval prototype of the corsets we know and love today (more on those in upcoming weeks). Up until World War 2, shapewear was meant to exaggerate curves. It wasn't until the famous designer Christian Dior came onto the fashion scene that shapewear was used to reduce curves. Shapewear hit it's heyday in the 1960s. Modern bodysuits should really be about subtly influencing and smoothing the figure you already have, not changing it. They are especially great for those who are self conscious about their midsection. Many of them come with a built-in bra, though some do not. The key to super flattering bodysuits is to know your measurements to ensure that it will properly fit you.

If you're looking for some great local bodysuits I recommend checking out  Freya Romance Boutique.  or Bustin' Out Boutique.

Teddies

Teddies are my absolute number one favorite piece of lingerie for boudoir sessions. They are less practical than bodysuits, meaning you wouldn't wear them under clothes to shape or smooth your body, but they are similar in shape and are made for the sole purpose of exuding feminine beauty and personality in the boudoir. Teddies are often lace, but the different style, color, and fabric variations are infinite.

Again, if you're looking for some great local bodysuits I recommend checking out  Freya Romance Boutique.  or Bustin' Out Boutique.

Rompers

Rompers (or playsuits) are essentially a top and shorts sewn together, with a cami style top, a defined waist, and short-short bottoms. Rompers are a good alternative to form fitting teddies and bodysuits when you want a little more mystery to your shape while still being flirty yet classy. These are often made of silk and lacy but can be found in many different materials, colors, and styles. Bonus: they're often super comfy and make great pajamas!

Most of my clients assume their only options are bra and underwear sets, but that is simply not true! Bodysuits, teddies, and rompers are often overlooked, but they are actually my favorite!!! If you are able to, head to your local lingerie boutique and try some on! If not, I have plenty of options in my client closet for you to try!

I hope you found this information helpful!
